"The midface - the area from the corners of the mouth to the corners of the eyes - is the focus of the face lift today," explains Dr. Steven Hopping, plastic surgeon and president of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery.

As doctors have learned to manipulate muscles and fat in the face, they can halt the inevitable aging process in which a youthful oval face turns into an older square face. "We are doing more filling," he says. "This restores youth to a face."
